The data center is undergoing a radical shift, from server virtualization to private cloud environment, and to public cloud computing – a computing model that promises massive flexibility, scalability and cost savings. However, taking virtual machines, which contain critical applications and sensitive data, to the cloud environment creates huge security challenges for most organizations - many of them have been relying on network perimeter defense as the primary means to protect their datacenter for many years. Concerns over security and compliance might hold back their cloud adoptions. An overhaul of the perimeter defense practice is clearly in order. In this presentation we will look at the impact of security on virtualization and cloud computing.

Siupan Chan is the Principal Consultant at Trend Micro Limited - the global leader in Internet content security and threat management. Trend Micro is a pioneer in server-based antivirus and delivers top-ranked security that fits customers’ needs, stops new threats faster, and protects data in physical, virtualized and cloud environments. Siupan is an expert in Internet and information security. He has been working in the IT industry for over 10 years. His exposure includes working at leading banks and system integrators. He has extensive experience in security infrastructure analysis, design, planning, implementation, operation and support for large IT enterprises, government organizations, as well as Trend Micro’s key channel partners in Hong Kong.

As a technology evangelist for Trend Micro, he is a high profile speaker in major industrial events, delivering topics ranging from cutting-edge technologies to security best practices. Siupan obtained a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Enterprise Management, and holds many professional titles such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA®) and BS7799 Lead Auditor.
